Caron has shown in prestigious museums and art galleries throughout Europe such as the Neuberger Museum of Art in New York, Det Kobenhavnske Gallery in Denmark, Brussels Hal Koninklijk Museum in Antwerp and now with us here at Electric Blue.

In a climate of overt political correctness and an ever -increasing obsession with vacuous celebrity, the lottery of genetics are currently considered by the mediocrity, to be the western world’s greatest accomplishment.

Familiarity now breeds commercial viability and acceptance rather than contempt and the notion of the individual as brand, combined with an increase in visual self-promotion, even among the aesthetically challenged, has sunk to an all time high particularly in the Un-united Mingdom and The St-hates.

The mask permits the creation of a covert persona, 'Feral' that encompasses the tribal, the religious and political, rather than the mythical or surreal; concurrently denying any immediate recognition based on race, sexuality, class or gender.

This harsher aesthetic challenges mainstream concepts of beauty and confronts social conformism, placing the conventional viewer in a state of confusion. Despite the mask revealing the mouth and eyes, it continues to inhibit a clarification of gender, which goes beyond the realms of androgyny. There is an obvious resistance to distorted notions of femininity, yet Feral somehow remains attractive to a variety of social groups and to a degree, sexually so. Prohibiting immediate recognition hinders two-way communication, it becomes difficult to abuse or attack a potential target that we cannot quantify, it affords the wearer a distance, which reduces the audiences' level of comfort and increases their feeling of intimidation.
You can question 'it', possibly fear 'it' but 'its'' power stems from a lack of understanding as to what 'it' actually is. 'It' commands fear and admiration simultaneously, which historically has proven to be a lethal and seductive combination.
